Complaints about requests for information

We respond to approximately 1200 requests made under the Environmental Information Regulations & Freedom of Information Act annually. While we strive to ensure that we deliver a professional and timely service to the public, we recognise that there will be times when the public feel we have not met their expectations.

If you have made a request and you are not satisfied with how this has been dealt with or responded to, you have the right to make a complaint about this. There are a number of ways you can make a complaint:

Send an email to customer.relations@devon.gov.uk. Please quote the FOI reference number of your request in your complaint.

Letter

If you would like to send your complaint by post, please address this to: Customer Relations & Information Governance Service, Room 120, County Hall, Topsham Road, Exeter, EX2 4QD, Please quote the FOI reference number of your request in your complaint.

All Access to Information complaints will be dealt with in accordance with the Secretary of State for Constitutional Affairs’ Code of Practice on the discharge of public authorities’ functions under Part I of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

We will aim to provide a response to your complaint within 20 working days, and where possible, we will ensure that your complaint is handled by someone more senior than the officer who had originally dealt with your request.
