Independent Living Centre
Are you looking for equipment that could help you stay independent?
The Independent Living Centre is a free and impartial service where our trained NHS occupational therapists can:
- assess your needs
- help you find the best equipment

Millbrook Healthcare is the provider of technology enabled care and support (TECS) for Devon County Council as part of the Devon Independent Living Integrated Service (DILIS) contract.
The type of technology and equipment available, ranges from self-pouring kettles and medication reminders, to personal alarms. This includes personal alarm systems, known as telecare, where an emergency call response team is on hand to help if needed. Alerts can come direct from you, the service user, or, in some cases, automatically from the device itself.
The video below is from a recent event where some of this technology was demonstrated:
If you would like to know what kind of TECS support might be available to support any eligible needs that you may have, please start by completing our self-help online tool. Alternatively, you can contact Care Direct on 0345 155 1007 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The demonstration of ideas on this site is to provide you with suggestions of things you might like to consider to support you to independently source solutions, to address the needs arising from your impairment.
It is to show how such solutions can be used to generate thinking and to support you to look independently at how to meet your specific care and support needs.
Devon County Council is not endorsing the specific products referred to in this information and wishes to make it known that it has not tested them for quality assurance purposes.
Please apply your own judgement and research in addition to these ideas when exploring what solutions may work best for you.
Any decision you take to implement a form of assistive technology to meet your care and support needs is a matter for you. Devon County Council is not responsible for the appropriateness or suitability of any such devices unless it directly commissions them on your behalf.
