Telecare

Telecare is the name given to a range of electronic equipment and services which can help you to stay living safely in your own home.

Telecare can be split into three broad sections:

  • personal wellbeing – such as pendant alarms to call for help
  • home and safety – such as fire, smoke or flood detectors
  • falls and mobility – such as fall detectors or bed occupancy sensors which alert others and raise an alarm.

Alarms or sensors may be carried by you or placed around your home - they either enable you to directly call for assistance or trigger an alarm which automatically links to a call centre, who will call you or someone who has agreed to respond. This means you will not have to press a button to receive help.
