Your Experience

Andrew – Farmer, South Molton

We are a rural farm based business enterprise near South Molton. The businesses include a cookery school, holiday cottages and game shooting together with a more traditional farming enterprise focusing on Red Ruby Devon beef cattle and sheep. We have grown the business over the last four years and now employ four people full-time and several part-time and seasonal workers.

Our current broadband connectivity (around 1.2Mbps) is incredibly slow and unreliable (7 visits from BT in the last 12 months) and hinders our business, as much of our customer base use the Internet to contact us. We are currently examining the viability of a direct meat sale, farm based, enterprise which could create up to three new jobs locally at start-up and turn a traditional loss making farming enterprise into profit. This venture would rely heavily on reliable and wide bandwidth broadband in order to process customer transactions online.
