BT Appointed Preferred Bidder for the Connecting Devon and Somerset Programme

The Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) programme has announced that it has appointed BT as preferred bidder for the provision of superfast broadband across Devon and Somerset.

The next stage of the project involves undertaking due diligence on the tender (finalising details of the contact). Following this, the process moves to the final stages, including gaining State Aid clearance and agreeing terms of the grant with Broadband Delivery UK (the organisation responsible for delivering the £52m of public funding for the programme). After these elements are concluded the contract can be awarded. It is anticipated that a further announcement will be made before the end of the year as to the status of the contract.
