Cosmic

Background to Cosmic

Cosmic is the delivery partner for the Connecting Devon and Somerset programme focused on delivering community support. They have over 16 years experience in running a range of digital projects across Devon, Somerset, Torbay and Plymouth. Their overall goal is to enhance internet use whilst increasing understanding of the benefits that superfast broadband offers residents, community groups and local organisations. They are a nationally recognised social enterprise delivering a range of ICT services with training and support across the South West and are well known for their work supporting communities, individuals and organisations to improve economic and social developments through ICT. So whether it’s using the growing range of mobile devices to access updates and information, developing new skills to help with communications, or learning and engaging with your community; Cosmic has the skills and support to assist your community!

The support on offer

  • Awareness raising events within communities designed to enlighten residents on the benefits of improved/superfast broadband
  • Training for broadband champions who will in turn be able to give trusted advice to people within their communities and act as digital neighbours
  • Provision of continued support for broadband champions to assist them in engaging effectively with members of their community
  • Provision of support and advice to communities wishing to develop community broadband hubs

Julie Hawker, Cosmic Chief Executive

Julie is able to provide a whole range of support and events aimed at engaging, promoting and encouraging interest or skills development in the new digital world. Julie is passionate about the programme and its potential to develop a more successful, inclusive and engaged society across the whole of Devon and Somerset:

Kate plays a key role in the delivery of the CDS programme. She is a major advocate for new technologies, connectivity and skills which are now available to benefit everyone in our communities. Kate has a real passion for new technologies and how they are constantly developing; her presentations at events bringing plenty of inspiration and enthusiasm for the differences technology can make to our lives, communities and businesses.

Trainers and Digital Mentors

Supporting the delivery of the programme are a growing team of trainers and digital mentors working to ensure that every opportunity for engagement, learning and development if fully supported. Fiona Glasspoole, Matt Young and Steve Harold will be working at events and local meetings across the area to provide the inspiration, support and learning needed to make the new superfast broadband truly benefit residents and communities.
