The Devon County Council Community Testing Service is offering free, rapid lateral flow COVID-19 tests to
- anyone whose job or volunteering work requires them to leave the house and be in contact with others
- anyone who cares for others, either paid or voluntary
- members of a household, childcare bubble or support bubble of school staff or nursery staff or a pupil
Booking is currently not required – please check test site locations, dates and times below for the nearest service to you.
If you are a member of a household, childcare bubble or support bubble of school staff or nursery staff or a pupil at a school, nursery or college, you can also order a home testing kit from the government.
Before you start
Do not turn up for a lateral flow test if you are below the age of 16, or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 such as a:
- new and continuous cough
- high temperature
- loss of, or change to, your sense of taste or smell
If you are experiencing any of those symptoms you should use the GOV.UK website to arrange an NHS test.
If you are a front-line worker who has regular contact with the public in your working week, testing twice weekly is advisable.
If you visit less frequently, then you may wish to test on the day of the visit or the day before.

Get help
If you need help you can contact us on 0345 155 1015.
We’ve provided some more details about lateral flow testing to help explain what the tests are and how they work.
After your test
Negative result
A negative result does not remove the need to follow existing COVID-19 measures socially and in the workplace. You should carry on with your day but proceed with caution, following all COVID-19 measures as normal.
Positive result
If you did a rapid lateral flow test at home and the result was positive:
- you and anyone you live with should self-isolate immediately
- you must report your rapid lateral flow test result on GOV.UK as soon as possible
- book a follow-up NHS PCR test online or by calling 119 to confirm your result
Continue to self-isolate until you get the result of the PCR test. Follow the advice you’re given when you get the result.
Read our guidance on self-isolating.
If you are eligible, a positive lateral flow result will enable you to qualify for self-isolation payments.
