Team Devon

Plymouth City Council and Torbay Council are Unitary Councils responsible for all local authority functions in their area. In Devon, the County Council is an upper tier authority with eight local District, Borough and City Councils working across the area responsible for important services such as housing, waste collection and local planning.

Devon is also home to the Dartmoor National Park Authority and there are hundreds of small parish and town councils with very local responsibilities who come together as the Devon Association Local Councils.

All these important local authorities currently work closely together as Team Devon to ensure a strong and collective approach to the strategic challenges and opportunities across the County.

As a part of the governance arrangements for a Devon, Plymouth and Torbay Combined Authority it has been agreed in principle that a Team Devon joint committee would be established to ensure that each of the eight district councils, the Dartmoor National Park Authority and the Devon Association of Local Councils have a voice and, working together with the County Council, can help to establish a collective position for Devon.
