We have recently developed a comprehensive Commissioning Strategy for Short Breaks for Disabled Children. We’ve listened to children, young people and their families about the gaps in service provision, and we have therefore developed new opportunities and want to hear from provider organisations to discuss how, together, we can develop a more inclusive offer.
New Short Breaks Commissioning Strategy
The new strategy incorporates data that we currently hold and on feedback received from key short breaks stakeholders (Parent Carer Forum Devon, Children and Families, DCS Support & Advice Team and The Disability Social Work Team).
One of the aims of the Short Breaks Commissioning Strategy is to drive a more consistent and focused approach to market development thereby increasing sufficiency of good quality relevant services that are good value and will lead to good outcomes for disabled children and their families.
Through the work undertaken to develop the Short Breaks Strategy, gaps in service provision were identified and we have outlined some of our ideas to attempt to address these gaps within our Commissioning Intentions that sit within the Short Breaks Commissioning Strategy.
We would like you to support us at this early stage of service development and give you an opportunity to consider whether you would like to expand your service to respond to identified need and contribute ideas from a provider perspective to the design of new service provision.
Expressions of interest
If you are interested in this opportunity, please express your interest via our provider portal. Alternatively, if you prefer to express your interest via email, please contact Devon County Council Children’s Commissioning by emailing childrenscommissioningsecure-mailbox@devon.gov.uk.
The deadline for this expression of interest is 12 noon on Monday 24 October.
For community groups and organisations not accustomed to the provider portal or formal commissioning processes, we are also providing an invitation to help build our community inclusion offer. For more information on this element of the work, please see our community inclusion page.
