Which is the right service to use?
It can be difficult to know which service is best to use in the event of urgent medical problems.
The NHS website has some advice that may help:
- When to call 111 or go to the 111 online service
- When to call 999
- When to go to A&E
- When to visit urgent treatment centres or other urgent care services: find urgent and emergency care services
Paediatric Assessment Unit
The Royal Devon University Healthcare Trust’s paediatric assessment unit works closely with the the RD&E’s Emergency Department to care for children or teenagers who need to go into hospital in an emergency.
Children and teenagers can be seen in a suitable area by doctors and nurses who specialise in looking after and treating children and young people. The unit is open from 10am to 10pm.
