Community energy organisations are not for profit companies that have members from their locality and are working to tackle the climate crisis and alleviate fuel poverty. Energy Saving Devon is working with the community energy organisations to make sure the service is best practice and fully qualified. We also carry out checks of the service to make sure everything is working correctly.

If you are able to pay for your household upgrades

Once you have a Plan Builder report we would recommend booking in with your local Energy Saving Devon partner, listed below. They can arrange a site visit from a retrofit assessor who will produce a detailed Home Energy Plan for you.  This will show you how to achieve your upgrade goals, considering your individual circumstances and the specifics of your property.

They can also help you:

  1. Understand what your aims are:
Is it to cut your carbon footprint, save costs, reduce damp or perhaps a mix of things?
  1. Carry out a detailed assessment of your home:
Work out how it’s doing at the moment and whether they are any concerns that need to be factored in such as damp, building works or an expanding family
  1. Produce a plan to achieve your aim:
This will be a fully costed plan to get to where you want to be that may be split into stages to fit in with other works or your budget
  1. Support you with engaging contractors to deliver the plan:
You can get help with how to find a designer, builder or other service, assessing their offers and on any contracts that may or may not be needed
  1. Review works to ensure all is correct:
They can visit during works to make sure it’s all being done correctly and to a good standard
  1. Evaluate at the end:
At the end of the work or stage they can evaluate what’s been done to make sure the work meets the required standards of quality.

Please note that there will be a charge for this support of approximately £550 per home.
