Guide: 5 steps to fostering

We are the only organisation ultimately responsible for children in care in Devon, so we have met hundreds and hundreds of people over the years who have wanted to foster children.

We know how daunting the prospect can be, but there is no need to worry, we are here to help you become a foster carer with Devon Fostering every step of the way, and remember you can opt out at any time.

Use the sections on the left to guide you through the process.

Once you’ve been approved our team of fostering experts will start working to match you with a child or children. Their age and the length of time they are going to stay with you will depend of the type of fostering you have been approved for and the child’s care plan.

On-going learning and development is an important part of your role as a foster carer with Devon Fostering, and you will receive regular training to help you in your work and enhance your skills, alongside the support and guidance of your own supervising social worker.
