British Deaf Association – Largest organisation in the UK that is run by deaf people for deaf people. Includes information on British Sign Language

British Dyslexia Association – UK national organization, offering a wide range of information for parents, dyslexic adults and teachers

Devon Charter for British Sign Language (BSL) -contains a series of pledges that are aimed at improving the lives of Deaf people in Devon

Disability Rights Commission – statutory remit to promote and monitor human rights; and to protect, enforce and promote equality across the nine “protected” grounds – age, disability, gender, race, religion and belief, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, sexual orientation and gender reassignment

Living Options Devon –  a well respected user-led organisation which works to ensure that people with disabilities and Deaf people (for whom British Sign Language is their first or preferred language) can live the life they choose

Mencap – the voice of learning disability. Everything we do is about valuing and supporting people with a learning disability and their families and carers

Mind – We’re here to make sure anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support.

RNIB offers support and advice to blind and partially sighted people in the UK, helping people who have lost their sight to find their lives again

Action on Hearing Loss (RNID) – Action on Hearing Loss is the new name for RNID. We’re working for a world where hearing loss doesn’t limit or label people, where tinnitus is silenced and where people value and look after their hearing

Black Networking Group – aims to reduce the isolation felt by many black and minority ethnic people who live and work in rural communities in the far South West of England
