In this section, we highlight sources of finance specifically geared to improving people’s welfare, including through education. These sources range through the European Social Fund, Big Lottery Fund, national charitable trusts and local bodies such as the Devon Community Foundation.
As with all categories of funding, some opportunities are very broadly based, while being most receptive to creatively specific proposals, and others are designed for very particular purposes or localities. So it is worth scanning all the possibilities, not just looking at those you are familiar with. Also, though some sources are available only to registered charities, most funds are open to any type of organisation and the success of applications is strongly influenced by the clarity and targeting of the delivery arrangements.
Even in this age of austerity, there is still a wide variety and some substantial sources of funding available to organisations both big and small. Often deadlines are quite tight so it is worth keeping a regular eye on this site. Good luck and we would like to hear how you have got on – see our contact us page for contact details.
