Who is this course for?
Suitable for all
You will learn skills that will enable you to further your ability to make expressive and accurate paintings.
You will learn techniques that include using a variety of brushes, palette knife, mark making with paint, colour mixing, surface preparation, thinners, glazing etc.
You will have learnt how to prepare your own canvas.
Support and feedback
The tutor will ensure that you have a good understanding of what you will be doing during the lesson.
They will also support you when needed with technical and creative elements of the lesson.
There will also be plenty of opportunities for the tutor to give you supportive feedback on the work that you have done and the techniques and styles that you may wish to use/practice.
Additional costs and requirements
Please bring a sketchbook, a pen and an apron. Some oil paints are provided, but if you would like to bring your own that is encouraged.
Will I have to do anything outside of the session?
You will not need to do anything outside of the class. However, the tutor will give you ideas and potential projects that you could do at home when practicing what you have learnt.
About the tutor
Alexis Soul-Gray is a practicing artist with a subject specialism in Drawing and Painting. She is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and Camberwell College of Art and has studied at MA level at The Royal Drawing School. Alexis is a qualified teacher of Art & Design and has taught in a wide range of formal and non-formal settings including Museums, Galleries, Primary and Secondary Schools, Universities and community arts projects. She has also worked as a curator, organising large scale Arts events in unusual settings.
