Upcycle/ reuse: gifts create strawberry pin cushions
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for everyone. Learn to sew by hand while making a strawberry pincushion and other small gift items using vintage fabrics.
You’ll learn how to stitch by hand and also some hand embroidery stitches to create some gifts from vintage fabrics. These items can be taken home and you will have the skills to create more!

Additional costs and requirements
All equipment and materials will be supplied. If you have any fabrics that you would like to use, please bring these along.
You may be eligible for a learner bursary if you can demonstrate that attending a course will improve your wellbeing. Eligibility is determined after a short interview with a member of our learning support team. You must be aged 19 or over on 31st August 2019 and your household income below £16.009.50 to access this fund. Contact your local centre for more details

About the tutor
Sam Brown, tutor for Learn Devon offering courses in design, crafts and employability skills. Her background is in Graphic Design, an Interior Designer and Manager in interior and fashion retail.
Sam qualifications include BA (Hons) in Design/Typography from the University of Plymouth and diplomas in Interior Design and Fashion and Textile Design.
Sam includes combining old and new technologies in her work from hand embroidery to digitally printed fabrics.
