About the tutor
I have been teaching with Learn Devon (formerly Adult & Community Learning) for 18 years, most of my teaching has involved Information & Communications Technology but more recently I have been teaching English. This year I took a class in Functional Skills English, ‘Improve your English join at any time’, with learners who ranged in ability from Entry Level 1 through to Level 2.
My qualifications include an MSC in Computer Science and a PGCE from Plymouth University. Recently I have undertaken several courses to enable me to teach English: ‘Level 3 Award in English for Literacy and Language Teaching’, ‘Engaging and Motivating Learners in English’, ‘Teaching English at Level 2: effective practice for new & developing teachers’.
I enjoy teaching and watching students gain in confidence in their English skills. They then have the opportunity to progress to other courses, gain employment, or help their children with their own learning.
