Night time diversions planned for M5 Junction 29 improvement works

Posted on: 15 August 2012

Overnight closures are planned on the A30 Eastbound carriageway from Moor Lane roundabout to M5 Junction 29, together with the M5 northbound entry and exit slip roads at Junction 29.
The closures over five consecutive nights from Sunday (19 August) to Friday 24 August will be from 8pm until 6am to enable further resurfacing work around the area of the junction upgrade scheme.
During the closure the diversion for A30 eastbound traffic, which will be signed with a solid black square symbol, is from Moor Lane Roundabout via Moor Lane, Moto Roundabout, Junction 30 Sandygate Roundabout, A376, A3052, Half Way Inn and then B3180 to A30 Daisymount Junction. Westbound traffic on the A30 wishing to travel north on the M5 will also be diverted via Moor Lane and Moto roundabout to Junction 30.
M5 northbound traffic wishing to take the Junction 29 exit slip road, will be signed to leave the motorway at Junction 30 and follow the diversion, signed with a solid black diamond, along Moor Lane to Moor Lane roundabout.  M5 northbound traffic which misses the signs before Junction 30, will continue to Junction 28, leave the M5 at Junction 28, drive around the roundabout and return on the M5 southbound to Junction 30, following the diversion route via Moor Lane to Junction 29.
The resurfacing work is being carried out by South West Highways Ltd as part of Devon County Council’s ongoing scheme to upgrade M5 Junction 29.
The M5 Junction 29 improvement work is part of a package of ongoing highway, public transport and cycling measures that are opening up the Exeter and East Devon Growth Point, which includes the Exeter Science Park, Clyst Honiton Bypass, Intermodal Freight Terminal, Skypark Business Development and the new community of Cranbrook.
Further night-time closures of the A30 and M5 slip roads are anticipated in September.
