Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Planning service is still running but there may be delays due to current circumstances.

Habitats Regulations Assessment

The purpose of Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) of land use plans under the EU Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC) is to protect the integrity of European sites (the Natura 2000 Network), including Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) and Special Protection Areas (SPAs).

HRA will inform each stage in the production of the Minerals Core Strategy, ensuring its objectives and policies do not have any significant adverse effects on the conservation objectives of European sites in or adjacent to Devon.

Appropriate Assessment Baseline Report

An Appropriate Assessment Baseline Report has been produced as part of initial HRA screening. It will also be used to inform the generation of objectives and policy options for the Minerals Core Strategy. Key environmental bodies were consulted on the Report but had no comments to make.

HRA Screening Report for the Options Consultation Paper

A draft Screening Report was produced for the Minerals Core Strategy’s Options Consultation Paper, which underwent consultation during March and April 2011. The report screened the options presented in the Consultation paper for the likelihood of significant effects on the Natura 2000 sites within and near Devon. Following discussion with Natural England, the Screening Report was amended, and the revised version is available here: HRA Screening Report.
