Designated safeguarding leads

All organisations should have a named safeguarding lead. Their role is to assess concerns about the safety and welfare of the organisation’s clients and staff.

They can help you decide whether your concerns relate to a safeguarding issue and can offer support with safeguarding referrals.

Please note that safeguarding leads provide guidance and support but are not expected to take charge of individual cases. Unless stated in your organisations’ safeguarding procedures, you will hold responsibility for submitting a safeguarding referral (if appropriate) and an information report.
