Support Worker (Part Time)

Main responsibilities:

·        Provide support and information to the individuals we support

·        Provide practical and emotional support to service users

·        Help service users meet their personal care needs sensitively and appropriately to a high standard, including personal hygiene, assistance with laundry, and preparing meals and drinks

·        Supporting service users to take any prescribed medicine, complying with all medicine policies, including storage, administering and record keeping

·        Enable service users to achieve independence as far as possible in all areas of their life by providing appropriate information, opportunity, training and support

·        Help service users to identify and choose their support needs

·        Assist in devising, implementing and reviewing support plans

Essential details:

Good literacy skills and report writing

Able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally

Able to motivate and encourage Service Users in a supportive, person centred manner

Ability to show initiative

Able to develop a rapport with a wide variety of people, including Service Users, families and professionals

Able to work in a team or on one’s own

Able to remain calm under pressure

Able to follow support plans, risk assessments etc. and can actively contribute to the development of plans

Self-motivated and able to show initiative with a commitment to quality standards

Patient and sensitive to the needs of others

Willing to attend all mandatory training, completing relevant paperwork

Adaptable and willing to learn new skills

An awareness and respect for personal independence

A commitment to Service User rights

Supportive to colleagues

The post requires a flexible response according to individual service user’s needs

Available to work a shift (rota) system including weekends and evenings

Willingness to accompany people supported on holiday

Must be able to work within the aims, objectives, policies and practice of the Camphill Devon Community

Camphill Devon provides accommodation and support to adults with a learning disability.

We offer registered residential accommodation at Hapstead Village in a beautiful setting on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. Supported living is also provided in the Teignbridge and South Hams area of Devon.

At Hapstead people live in six houses which provide a stimulating home environment. Through our person centred approaches everyone is encouraged to live an active and fulfilling life. Our aim is to support people to achieve the lifestyle they want to have, benefiting from a sense of community where people can support and be supported by others.
