Vibrant, resilient and diverse communities are at the heart of Devon County Council’s vision for the future. Together with our partners we will play a leading role in supporting that self reliance and enterprise. We recognise, however, that at different points in their lives, many people need help to lead safe, full and independent lives, so part of our core purpose is to work collaboratively with partners to ensure an effective mix of community action and flexible, responsive and high quality social care provision.
At the heart of this approach must lie a mature relationship with the organisations which offer services, care and support to individuals, families and communities. Devon is a very varied county and solutions to local need must be tailored accordingly.
Our challenge to ensure the provision of a diverse and flexible range of social care services is increased by these times of austerity, the associated reduction in public expenditure and major reforms to the public care system. Whilst the context tests both commissioners and providers, it also presents the opportunity for us to work together to develop innovative and efficient solutions. We invite and welcome closer working relationships with all providers and a dynamic Provider Engagement Network.
