Blue Badge parking
The Blue Badge scheme helps you park nearer to your destination if you have a disability.

Apply online for a Blue Badge
You can apply for yourself, for someone else or for an organisation. The same online application form can be used if you want to renew your Badge.
Applying online is easy
The online application is provided by GOV.UK. You’ll need to answer some questions to check your eligibility and then you’ll be asked to provide personal details as well as evidence to support your application. It only takes X.
The form will make it clear exactly what documents you need and will allow you to upload them there and then. You will be able to submit your application even if you are unable to upload all the documents that are asked for.
Did you know: If you have a smartphone you can use it to take a photo of the document you need to upload. Simple!
If you aren’t able to take a photo you can upload a scan of your document. If you don’t know how to do this then why not ask a family member or friend to help you. Alternatively, you could visit your local library and ask for help there.
The details collected in the application will be sent to us and we will contact you if we need more information.
Applying online and providing an email address will help us to minimise the time it takes to send you a Badge.

Using your Blue Badge
The Blue Badge scheme only applies to on-street parking. Badge holders have free use of parking meters and pay-and-display bays.
You may also be exempt from limits on parking times (check local signs for information) and can park for up to three hours on yellow lines; except where there is a ban on loading or unloading or other restrictions, as shown by a single or double yellow bar marked on the edge of the pavement.
If you are a Blue Badge holder and live in a residents only parking area, you no longer need to buy a resident permit to park on your street, displaying your valid Blue Badge is enough.
However, if you regularly travel with friends or family in their cars and will be relying on your Blue Badge for parking at your destination, we do recommend that you buy a resident permit for your own car to avoid receiving a penalty charge notice for not displaying a valid permit or Blue Badge whilst you were out or away from home.
Updating your details
Your Badge lasts for three years and a renewal notice will be issued automatically at least six weeks before it expires.
If you move during that time please phone us on 0345 155 1006 or email email@example.com to let us know your new address.
If you move to a different county your Blue Badge will still be valid but you will have to reapply to your new local authority when it expires.
