Before submitting your application please ensure that you have taken note of the guidance provided below in order to submit a successful application.

Before applying you must check with your local district council planning department, that the use of the building includes outdoor seating. Your application will be delayed is this is required and is not already in place when you apply.
Street furniture
Furniture must be safe, practical, portable and in keeping with surroundings and must be removed from the highway outside of the agreed operating hours.
There must be a minimum width of two metres of clear footway remaining for pedestrians (when customers are seated) and barriers must have a tap rail at the bottom to assist visually impaired pedestrians.
You need to provide clear diagrams showing your proposal, including measurements of the area, and the proposed furniture. These examples show acceptable and unacceptable diagrams. (add links?)
Insurance
You should ensure that your insurance adequately covers your street furniture and the activities associated with it. You must hold valid public liability insurance for a minimum of £5 million.
