You will need
- A resonance board
- Hands and feet to tap
- Communication device
What to do
- Have the learner sit or lie on the board. You can sit behind them on the board or next to the board.
- Tap your fingers on the board – use a set rhythm, for example a rat-a-tat-tat.
- Encourage them to repeat what you have done / watch for any reaction. You could use the phrases ‘My turn’ and ‘Your turn’ to lead this.
- Repeat to the left / right / in front / behind where they are sitting or lying.
- Communicate – ask if they would like more or something different before moving on to the next part.
- Tap your feet on the board. Can they repeat / react? Alternate left and right foot.
- Tap out a rhythm with your feet or hands and see if they react or copy.
- Try different taps: fingers, palms, etc.

Always supervise the activity to prevent accidents.
