Resonance board – Activity 2: Bangles, beads and chains

(Copy and paste the image above to make handy cards to print out and follow)

You will need

  • A resonance board
  • Bangles
  • Bead strings
  • Chains

What to do

  • Have the learner sit or lie on the board. You can sit behind them on the board or next to the board.
  • Put a bead string or a chain over an arm or encourage them to grasp in their hand. Move arms up and down, first one side, then the other.
  • Put a bead string / chain flat on the surface of the board and experiment pulling them back and forth or spinning them round and round.
  • Communicate – ask if they would like more or something different before moving on to the next part.
  • Repeat with bangles, beads on strings, cotton reels threaded together, etc.

Top tips

You could try modelling things first if they are reluctant to join in.

Safety Tip: Make sure string like objects are kept away from necks / not wrapped tightly around body parts. Always supervise the activity to prevent accidents.
