The Devon Metrology Laboratory operates an efficient, cost-effective and UKAS accredited weight testing and calibration service to businesses and local authorities throughout the country.
If you have weights from 1mg to 25kg we can test them to tolerances ranging from M1/M2, for example, for traders’ weights or, for pharmaceutical companies, right up to E2.
Imperial, Newton or other non-standard weights such as ball bearings can also be tested.
We can also test measures of length and capacity although these do not fall under the remit of our UKAS accreditation. A certificate of calibration will be issued.
Alternatively, give us a call on 01392 383316 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss your requirements.
The Lab is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm, and operates across two sites – at County Hall in Exeter and at Chelston, Wellington, just off junction 26 of the M5.
You can deliver your weights in person to either site or send them by post/courier.
Once tested, we can return your weights by post/courier at an additional cost or you can collect in person. Alternatively, you can arrange your own courier.
Our standard turnaround is five working days. Weights have to be acclimatised to the Lab conditions overnight before testing can start.
Calibration status labels will only be provided for weights in boxes unless otherwise requested.
