Working in adult social care

As an adult social care worker at Devon County Council, you will be working with and alongside our community health and social care teams, hospital discharge teams and safeguarding teams, as well as others, to ensure the protection and safety of vulnerable adults.

We are responsible for strategic commissioning and delivery of services to adults with mental health needs; those with complex learning and physical disabilities, long-term conditions, and carers supporting these people.

The teams have excellent working relationships with the wider multidisciplinary teams that include mental health and community health teams, and a strong voluntary sector.

Our approach to assessment and support planning aims to enable and empower people to make choices about where and how they live and how we meet their support needs.

Our integrated way of working means that joining us, you’ll benefit from a supportive working environment with a comprehensive range of resources at your fingertips.

Our career pathways will take you from an unqualified role, support you to gain your social work degree, provide you with a structured assessed and supported year in practice into social work and on to team management roles.
