Children’s social workers have responsibility for delivering high quality social work services through a child’s journey, understanding the child’s experience and using exceptional assessment skills to predict parental capacity to change. Completing high quality and timely assessments will lead to effective planning and interventions with the most vulnerable children and families in Devon. We’ll expect you to work with your colleagues in the area to ensure that every Devon child, no matter where they live, receives the same quality service.

We understand the pressures you are under as a social worker. While we can’t make them go away, we will make sure that you have the support you need, when and where you need it. Our new supervision framework makes time for you to reflect and be challenged, supporting you to develop your professional practice and deliver your best to children and families. We’ve also refocussed on ensuring that we are consistently allocating cases leading to timely outcomes for children and young people. Of course, we know that the success of this relies upon making caseloads manageable, which is why we’ve rolled out new early help programmes and locality-based admin support.
