Summary of Matter or Issue Requiring Decision:
It is recommended that County Council land adjacent to the Wray Valley Trail, Moretonhampstead (3 acres) be declared surplus.
Decision Taken:
To declare the land surplus and sell the land to an adjoining land owner by private treaty sale.
Summary of Reason(s) for Decision Taken:
The adjoining land owner approached the Council expressing an interest to purchase Devon County Council (DCC) land which is surplus to requirements. Covenants restrict usage of the surplus land to ‘agricultural, equestrian or as an amenity area for community use’ and as part of DCC’s agreement to disposal, one acre of the surplus land will be gifted to Moretonhampstead Development Trust as amenity space for community use.
Summary of Alternatives or Options considered and rejected:
To retain and maintain the land at Council expense.
