Summary of Matter or Issue Requiring Decision:
It is recommended that residual land (site of former Eastcombe Cottage), Tawstock, Near Barnstaple, EX31 3PB (approx. 0.33 acres) be declared surplus and disposed of.
Decision Taken:
To declare the site surplus and dispose.
Summary of Reason(s) for Decision Taken:
This site is no longer required by DCC’s Highways Service who have detailed that there are no strategic highways benefits for retaining the land.
The land was originally purchased in May 1975 and subsequently held for a road bypass scheme proposed in the 1980s which Highways have advised is no longer a live infrastructure project.
This disposal will forego an ongoing maintenance liability to DCC.
Summary of Alternatives or Options considered and rejected:
To retain the land and maintain at DCC expense.
