There needs to be a bigger focus on building a circular economy. There is huge potential to highlight this through the priority to invest in Devons economic recovery.

Our Focus

To prioritise sustainable travel and transport, and help people adapt to climate change by supporting the transition to low emission vehicles and helping low-income homeowners to improve energy efficiency

We will do this by

  • Implementing the Environmental Policy through which the Council leads by example in minimising the impact of its own operations and its supply chain on the environment, and encourages others to do the same.
  • Contributing to the implementation of the Devon Climate Change Action Plan, which is due to be published in August 2022, through its support for local energy generation, cycling and walking transport improvements, the installation of electric-vehicle charging infrastructure on-street and in car parks, development of the Teign-Estuary trail.
  • Improving bus services and community transport, as alternatives to private transport, through the Bus Service Improvement Plan.
  • Identifying priorities for nature recovery and wider environmental objectives through the Devon Local Nature Recovery Strategy.
