A number of schools across Devon are in the process of converting to academies or to foundation school status, with or without a co-operative trust. Others are likely to follow during this and the following academic years.

The arrangements which have been determined for any establishment will remain in place after conversion with only minor changes to reflect changes to status and to names where appropriate. A newly-converted academy or foundation school will be responsible for consulting on changes for future academic years.

Other schools may be approved to open as free schools. Unless otherwise stated, any reference to a school also means an academy, free school, university technical college or studio school.
