Several of the ferry operators provide Avocet cruises during the winter, some of which are guided by experts from the RSPB.

Scenic estuary cruises
Stuart Line Cruises sail from Exmouth throughout the year, offering circular scenic cruises on the river, guided bird watching, summer coastal cruises and day trips to local towns: Topsham, Sidmouth and Torbay. All vessels have seating, refreshments and toilets on board.

Starcross to Exmouth

Topsham to Turf Hotel
Topsham to Turf Hotel ferry service. The Turf Locks Hotel is a family run pub serving great food, local ales and wines.The RSPB runs winter Avocet Cruises so people can see avocets and many other wading and other birds. Dates and times are tide dependent, but usually approximately 20 cruises are run November to February inclusive. Contact RSPB from October onwards for more information.

Access Information
Disabled Access
Disabled access is available on the majority of circular cruises from Exmouth. Access is limited on the rest of the ferry services due to the unsuitable nature of the docks, however, ferry crew are keen to help wherever possible. Please contact individual services for more information.
Bicycles
Bicycles are accepted but can be subject to a charge or limited at peak times. Bicycles are permitted on trains as long as they are stored safely. Bicycles can be carried on some foot ferries, please check with the individual operator.
Dogs
Well behaved dogs on leads accepted on all services but may be subject to a small charge. Up to two dogs can be taken free of charge on trains.
