Data sharing

It is important to share personal data when the following conditions apply (these provide lawful grounds for sharing personal data within and between organisations)

  • it isĀ in the public interest to share personal data (for example when a serious crime could be prevented). If this is the case personal information should be disclosed within anĀ information report.
  • and/or there is a safeguarding concern. If this is the case personal information should be disclosed in a safeguarding referral and in discussions with a safeguarding lead or line manager.

People may hold important information about those who have exploited them. This makes them highly vulnerable. It is therefore crucial to share personal data with discretion, and only with those directly involved in a case.
