As part of the development phase we need to trial lots of different ideas; to demonstrate ways we can attract new audiences to Stover Park and make its heritage and wildlife stories relevant and interesting to a wider audience. We also need to raise match funding.
There are lots of ways you could get involved as a volunteer to help move the wider project forward:
- Friends of Stover Park is the charity:
‘Educational and charitable support to members and guests of Stover Country Park and to maintain the park as an open space and amenity for the local area.’ - Friends of Stover needs more committee members
People can get involved to:
- help at Stover events/activities run by Friends of Stover Park
- help fundraise
- become a trustee
- bake cakes for meetings!
People with IT, fundraising, bid writing and marketing skills are also needed.
On a practical note, we need volunteers to:
- make things for events
- help us count visitor numbers
- take ‘before and after’ photographs of heritage areas within Stover park which will be restored or changed as part of the project
- help to construct larger projects like workbenches.
- provide creative input, for example, with making posters
- greet people at events
- help with other practical tasks as they arise
As the project progresses there will be lots of opportunities to volunteer and we would love to have a pool of willing helpers to call upon.
In return you can:
- gain new skills
- use skills you already have
- help others in the community
- make new friends and get invited to volunteer socials
- be involved in a project which has a vision and purpose
- help to keep Stover a safe, clean and vibrant park for all
We are also looking for help from students with backgrounds in theatre, wildlife, community development, environmental science, education and more.
