On the bus
Services will be running as normal but with some delay due to the required road closures. These timetable disruptions will be published on the operator’s websites.
Cycling
The event is being held on National Cycle Network Route 27 which runs along The Strand in Barnstaple. This links directly into Devon’s Tarka Trail. Further details of the cycling network can be found here.

Parking
Please note that the following car parks will be closed from 5:00pm on 2 Sept until 9:00pm on 3 Sept:
- Castle Quay.
- Commercial Road.
- Museum car park on The Square.
- Litchdon Street.
The following car parks will have restricted access:
- Cattle Market: normal operation but restricted access from 1:00pm until 4:00pm.
- Tuly Street: normal operation but restricted access from 1:00pm until 4:00pm.
- North Walk: normal operation but restricted access from 1:00pm until 4:00pm.
- Paiges Lane: normal operation but restricted access from 1:00pm until 4:00pm.
- Fair View: normal operation but restricted access from 3:00pm until 4:00pm.
Additional parking is available at:
- Park School: this car park is a 20 minute walk, 6 minute cycle or a 10 minute bus ride from the event area.
- Seven Brethren: additional spaces will be made available in this car park and it is an 8 minute walk from the event area.
Spectators with disabilities
There will be a viewing platform for spectators with disabilities and their carers next to the finish line. This will be close to refreshment and toilet facilities.
Access to the platform will be via the main pedestrian routes across The Square and The Strand as parking spaces will be made available within the Litchdon Street car park.
Spaces on the platform and within the parking are limited so will need to be booked in advance. To book a parking and viewing place, please email tourofbritain@devon.gov.uk with the following information:
- Name of person with disability.
- Blue Badge number.
- Name of carer/assistant.
- Vehicle registration number.
- Vehicle make and model.
Whichever method you choose to get to the event we are advising that you arrive as early as possible due to the increase in traffic in and around Barnstaple.
