Safeguarding

Are you concerned about an adult or a vulnerable adult?

A vulnerable adult is a person ‘who is or may be in need of community care services by reason of mental or other disability, age or illness, and who is or may be unable to take care of him or herself, or unable to protect him or herself against significant harm or exploitation’.

If you see, hear or suspect a vulnerable adult is being abused in any way, you must tell someone about it as soon as possible by contacting Adult Social Care.

If anybody is at immediate risk, contact the police on 999.

Are you concerned about a child or young person?

If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child or young person in Devon, please use the online referral form on the Devon Safeguarding Children Partnership website. This form will go through to their safeguarding mailbox and be triaged by a Team Manager within their Front Door.

Additional information about Devon Children’s Front Door, as well as the relevant contact numbers, operating hours, and the Emergency Duty Service can also be found on their site.

If a child is at immediate risk, contact the police on 999.
