The Devon population is older than the national average with 24.7% over the age of 65, compared to 18% nationally. The county is ageing faster than the national average and by 2031 it is expected that over 65s will comprise 30% of all residents.
Average weekly pension payments are £431 whilst the total number receiving pensions in Devon has grown to nearly 200,000, over 25% of the population.
