Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment

Surface Water Management Plan
We have developed a Surface Water Management Plan (SWMP) to progress the management of flooding from local sources of flood risk. The term “local flood risk” means flooding from sources other than Main Rivers and the sea. Therefore, SWMPs are increasingly seen as tools for the Lead Local Flood Authority to manage all forms of ‘local flooding’ in an area, and are considered as such in this case. The purpose of a full SWMP study (note this report only details findings from Phase 1 which includes Strategic Assessment or Preparation under current SWMP Guidance) is to identify sustainable responses to manage local flooding and to prepare an Action Plan. The Action Plan and supporting material provide an evidence base for future decisions and funding applications for putting the recommendations into practice.
