Family practitioners work directly with children, young people and families. They do this by conducting frequent home and community visits to families who have come to the attention of social work teams.
No specific qualifications are required to become a family practitioner, and many enter the job through other roles in Children’s Services. However, you do have to be tenacious and resilient and have a passion for getting the best outcomes for our young people.
Each year, we support a number of our current employees to undertake a social work degree via the Open University. We also actively engage with national providers to identify opportunities to offer social work apprenticeships as they become available.
