2015 Grand Western Canal photo competition

The best entries in this year’s Grand Western Canal Photographic Competition have been picked. The competition, which ran from February to November, was open to all amateur photographers and attracted 381 entries.

There were three categories; Canal landscapes, Canal wildlife and Canal activities. A winner and runner-up were selected for each. Each entry was judged by Eyal Lesk of PhotoLesk, Ray Yardley of the Tiverton and Heathcoat Photography Club, and Mike Slater, a freelance photographer.

Each category winner received a £100 PhotoLesk voucher with the runner-up receiving a £50 PhotoLesk voucher. Local Council Member for Tiverton East, Des Hannon and for Willand and Uffclume, Ray Radford contributed towards the prizes through their locality budgets.

Councillor Roger Croad, Cabinet Member for Environmental Services said: “We are always keen to receive good photos of the canal, especially close–up ones of people enjoying activities at the canal, so please keep sending them in.”

The competition was sponsored by PhotoLesk – a photography and print studio on Gold Street, Tiverton.
