Bus passes for free travel are available to older people or those with certain disabilities.
A pass entitles the holder to free off-peak travel on registered local buses anywhere in England. A registered local bus is a timetabled bus service that is open to the general public.
Apply for a bus pass
You can apply online for a bus pass or complete a paper application.
You will need to provide us with evidence of where you live and as well as a passport-style photograph.
If you are applying as an older person you will need to provide us with evidence of your age.
If you are applying for a bus pass based on disability (and you are not eligible for a pass based on your age), you will need to provide us with proof of your disability.
You can submit your application up to 30 days before the date you become eligible and you will receive your pass on or around this date.
