Build back better

A firm foundation in universal support for all young people will be crucial as we build back better, to support communities, localities, Devon and the UK as a whole. In addition we will ensure that services will be targeted at those who need it most.

Recovery from the impact of lock down and COVID-19 will take a long time. We want to begin now with a focus on these priorities and build this into our Children and Young Peoples Plan refresh in 2021:

  • Extended the work and training offer – Extended offer for all young people into work and training particularly for Care Leavers and children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Combat inequalities – Combat the inequalities that have been exacerbated by COVID-19, strengthening our diverse communities.
  • Climate emergency – Put the voice of young people at the heart of the response to the climate emergency in Devon County Council, NHS Devon CCG and Devon and Cornwall Police in response.
